In Spain, couples spend an average of 1,000 euros on a pair of wedding bands, i.e. 500 euros per ring. This is an average, of course, as prices vary depending on the quality of the jewel and whether or not it carries diamonds.
Factors that affect the budget of the wedding bands: gold or silver
The choice of metal and its quality will mainly influence the price of the wedding band.
A wedding band will be with you for the rest of your life, so the properties of the metal you choose, such as its resistance to oxidation, its strength and durability, will have an impact on its price.
Here are the differences between gold and silver.
Gold owes its prestige to its qualities: stainless, malleable and not very sensitive to corrosion. For this reason, it is the metal of choice for wedding rings.
However, it should be noted that jewelers rarely use 100% gold as a metal to make jewelry, as it is necessary to work it in an alloy to ensure its strength and durability. Thus, 18 carat gold is an alloy composed of 75% gold (750‰), then the alloys vary according to the color chosen :
- 18 karat yellow: 750‰ + 12.5% silver + 12.5% copper.
- 18 karat white: 750‰ + 25% (silver; copper and palladium)
- 18 karat rose: 750‰ + 5% silver + 20% copper
Silver is used more for the creation of what is called costume jewelry. Silver jewelry is less resistant and oxidizes more quickly.
Also, 100% silver is not used to make jewelry. 925 silver or sterling silver is an alloy of 92.5% silver and 7.5% other metals, usually copper.
At LUM, all of our wedding bands are made from 18 karat Fairmined gold and are available in yellow, white or rose.
Considerations that affect your budget: with or without diamonds
Although we usually think about wedding bands without diamonds, diamonds also play a role.
There are no rules: if you want to match an engagement ring with a diamond wedding band, everything is possible.
However, don’t forget to consider the position of the wedding band regarding the engagement ring. The size of the diamonds may be restricted if the wedding band is meant to be worn on the same finger as the engagement ring.
At LUM, we also offer diamond wedding bands, respecting the space they will take up on your fingers according to your tastes.
Payment options to suit your budget
At LUM, we are aware that wedding bands represent an important budget, so we offer the option of paying for the rings in 2 or 3 installments, free of charge.
